California ETEC and Long Beach City College Announce Alliance to Boost
International Student Recruitment in Asia
Long Beach, CA — California Education and Training Export Consortium (CA ETEC)
and Long Beach City College (LBCC) are delighted to announce a strategic collaboration
aimed at increasing international student enrollment from Asia, with a focus on
Association of Southeast Asian Nation countries (ASEAN). This alliance is particularly
targeted at expanding our presence in Cambodia, currently the top source of international
students at LBCC.
The partnership introduces an innovative “Fast Track” program designed to streamline
the application process for Cambodian and all international students. This program will
simplify the admission process, provide direct contact with LBCC admissions, prepare
students for the U.S. visa application and interview process, and offer comprehensive
support services post-visa. These services include airport pickup, housing assistance, and
student advising, utilizing CA ETEC’s robust infrastructure in Southern California and
Southeast Asia.
CA ETEC, the first international education consortium founded in California, has been at
the forefront of international education cooperation and student recruitment since its
inception. Notably, in 2012, CA ETEC pioneered the establishment of the Vietnamese
Education and Training Export Consortium (VETEC), the first U.S. Education
Recruitment Center in Vietnam, supported fully by the U.S. Government. Over the past
15 years, CA ETEC has facilitated the recruitment of more than 5,000 international
students and generated over $35 million in education exports across Asia and the Middle
East. The organization has been acknowledged as an industry leader being awarded the
Presidential “E” Award for Service Export Excellence in 2011 and “E” Star Award in
2016.
Long Beach City College, with nearly a century of educational excellence, is a leading
community college serving Long Beach and the surrounding areas. Renowned for its
high-quality programs in fields such as Business, Culinary Arts, Education, Engineering,
Health Sciences, and more, LBCC has established a reputation for academic excellence
and success in transferring students to prestigious four-year colleges and universities.
This partnership aims to triple LBCC’s international student population within the next
three years, enriching the educational experience for all students while fostering global
connections and understanding.
